Video: Ramp jump ended in disaster at X Games RallyCross event

Share |

Car jumping on ramps is always fascinating to watch, but for this case is a classic example of what happened when a ramp jump from a car went badly. In the most recent X Games Rally Cross event in the United States, young Finnish driver Toomas Heikkinen knows how it feels when failing to ramp jump the car. In a very painful way as well.

Heikkinen was on his practice run on the Ford Fiesta Rallycross car when his car landed 50 foot short from the ramp, causing the car to crash into the bottom of the ramp and then flipped upside down into the gap. Soon the car caught fire but fortunately Heikkinen managed to crawl out from the wreckage before the fire spreads. As a result of this crash, Heikkinen broke his left ankle and had complained of abdominal pain. Although he is unable to participate on the finals, he is indeed very lucky to survive such scary crash.
