In Italy, the Italian Polizia di Stato (state police) has the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia as patrol car for high speed pursuit, donated by Lamborghini in 2008. The Italian police force of the Carabinieri meanwhile, has just received two units of Lotus Evora S to serve the Italian Police Force in cities of Rome and Milan. The Arma dei Carabinieri, a division of the Italian army, works in a similar position as the Scotland Yard in the UK or Federal Bureau Investigation (FBI) in the US and works with the normal police force to serve the Italian citizens.

All this is possible as current Group Lotus CEO, Dany Bahar, used to be a senior vice-president for Ferrari in Italy. The cars are destined for a two year stint with the division, and have been equipped with some technology, including latest voice recognition technology, some computers, a special refrigeration compartment which can be used for the transportation of donor organs. Which reminded us of the Lamborghini Gallardo supplied to the Italian Police force a few years back for such purposes. It is however not sure if any machine guns or bullet proof armor were fitted into the Evoras.
Commenting at the handover event Group Lotus Chief Executive Officer Dany Bahar said, “We are extremely proud to be working with such an iconic and professional organization as the Carabinieri who plays an integral role in Italian society.”
Carabinieri spokesperson, Colonel Marco Minicucci said, “Our special Lotus Evoras combine the very best of our technology with excellent British engineering from Lotus. Not just anyone can drive these cars, we carefully selected some of our team to attend a driver training session at the new test track at Lotus’ headquarters in Hethel, Norfolk where they learn all about the very special characteristics and incredible potential of the cars.”
