The all-new 2012 Subaru Impreza sedan and hatchback have had their premieres in recent major motor shows. Developed based on Subaru’s “Redefining Value, Redefining Class” concept, this Impreza has less horses in the hood and in return, more MPG for the road. Boo hoo!
Sedan
The base models in US are powered by the third generation 2.0 liter boxer engine, packaged with a 5-speed manual or the new Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission. For an all-wheel-drive car, this new Impreza does have an impressive fuel consumption figure, 36 mpg or about 15.5km a liter. All thanks to its lighter weight and smaller engine, which generates 148 HP, 22 horses less than its predecessor.
However, we think this new design is lack of something. Yes, lack of “Umph!”. According to Subaru, this is based on their “Smart & Classy” concept. In order words, “we are trying to be very careful”. It’s just too proper. However, no final details on pricing and launching dates. We’ll just have to wait.
