Share |

2011 will be a very interesting year for Grand Tourer (GT) racing. The FIA’s GT3 has attracted various manufacturers such as Porsche, Ferrari, Audi, Lambo, BMW Alphina, Ford GT, Merc SLS AMG, Aston Martin, Corvette and so on. McLaren is now the most recent entry as they are fielding their latest model, the MP4-12C to compete in the 2011 season of the FIA GT3 championship in Europe.

Apart from Formula One, McLaren does field their cars in endurance racing and GT races from Japan GT to the famous 24-hours of Le Mans with the legendary McLaren F1. With the combination of expertise with CRS Racing, McLaren is hope to field at least 2 or 4 cars in the GT3 European series. Álvaro Parente, a 26-year old racing driver from Portugal, has been announced as the first new professional racing driver to join the McLaren GT race team.

However we will have to wait until the first race in 8th of May 2011 at Algrave, Portugal, to see how this machine fares. For sure we would love to see this stunning looking machine to win podium positions.
